It’s Not My Cat April 2023
There are so many babies having babies. Don’t know this kitten, but I made a nest for
her in the back room in case she pops.
This is probably her first litter.
Sister said she’d take her to Foothills Animal Shelter if she does have
them in my house (or if we can catch her!).
4-4-23 Mama let me hold her!
She is SO softy! She wasn’t happy
about it, but she didn’t hurt me to get away.
It was cold out, and I kept her trapped in the house. Sister was amazed! She never even got to pet her before.
Unsure if Mama would stay with me, I made plans with Sister
to get her medical care anyway. Then, on
April 6th, she was waiting for me after work, and came right in. I think I got adopted.
Mama making herself at home.
So friggin’ cute! She even jumped
on the kitchen counter to help me wash dishes.
She had no thumbs, so she wasn’t much help. I shooed her off the counter kindly, so as
not to scare her, and made it clear that was not her place to jump onto. In all other aspects, I became the proud
slave to Diva Mama. I’m a sucker for a
pretty face.
I was keeping my eyes open for Squeaky. I saw him limping a few days before, then he
disappeared. I called for him, but got
nothing. Squeaky was found in Crazy Cat Guy’s
back yard. He was run over by a car, and
went back to “his” yard to pass away. *sigh.
I remember my neighbor pulling her car into the alley by my house so
fast you’d think her house was on fire.
I’m pretty sure she hit Squeaky then (she almost ran over me too!), and
I warned her to SLOW DOWN!
Finally got a picture of Mama playing with the toys I got
her!
Sister and her Friend set more traps up with one on my
porch. I was sitting there, and I heard
the trap on my front porch slam shut. I
opened the door, and there was the little Preggo looking at me like “What?” from
outside the trap. *sigh. I started
talking to her, telling her how much better her life could be if she would only
let us help her. Shortly thereafter, she
was caught in the trap on Crazy Cat Guy’s porch! Yay! Got a different one at my house. Since a
lot of the tabbies look identical, no one was sure which one it was, but it was
going to be safe.
Mama wouldn’t come in a few days later, so I went to
bed. Woke up, and Mama was furious with
me for not letting her in! So, you stay
in until you know I’m not the enemy.
Simple as that.
I set up an observation post in the back room so Mama could
look out the window. She spends a lot of time there.
Going Cat-Fishing.
At first Mama was having a blast, but then I sneezed, the
bait hit her in the nose, and now she won’t have anything to do with it. *sigh. I gave it to my neighbor.
Mama let me brush her for a minute. Mama may look like a fat cat, but that’s all
hair and mats. Underneath she’s skinny,
but not starving. I started to cut the
mats of hair off Mama with scissors. She
wasn’t happy about it, but she let me do it.
To a point. The big mat on her
chest was too close to the skin, like a built-in fur muff for her paws, but the
ones on her sides came off fairly easily.
I kept at the brushing, and got another big mat off her neck.
Once the weather started getting nicer, Mama started
claiming my front porch as her own.
Sister sold her brother’s house, and the crews started work on it. It was badly in need of repair, so we figured
it would take a while. I’m just glad
they didn’t raze the property and start from scratch. I would hate to have some monster apartment
complex right across the street! The
cats that were left were NOT HAPPY though.
They still obviously thought it was their house, and were all still
hanging out on the porch and roof.
Stay tuned for more.
