It’s Not My Cat April 2023     There are so many babies having babies.   Don’t know this kitten, but I made a nest for her in the back room in case she pops.   This is probably her first litter.   Sister said she’d take her to Foothills Animal Shelter if she does have them in my house (or if we can catch her!).     4-4-23 Mama let me hold her!   She is SO softy!   She wasn’t happy about it, but she didn’t hurt me to get away.   It was cold out, and I kept her trapped in the house.   Sister was amazed!   She never even got to pet her before.   Unsure if Mama would stay with me, I made plans with Sister to get her medical care anyway.   Then, on April 6th, she was waiting for me after work, and came right in.   I think I got adopted.         Mama making herself at home.   So friggin’ cute!   Sh...

It’s Not My Cat March 2023

It’s Not My Cat March 2023   Sister left me with cat food, and I promised to make sure the food and water on her brother’s porch would stay full.   Mama watched me do this, and stopped coming over to my house to eat.   It was like she was saying “All I have to do is wait, and everything will be brought to me.”   For a while, cat. Only for a while.   While all this was happening, I was attracting unwanted attention from the feral cats.   I made the firm decision that I would NOT be the Crazy Cat Lady, but they were so cute… They started bringing their pregnant friends over, but with so many, it was hard to only feed the ones I was trying to adopt.   I did know some of the more notorious stray cats, like Buddy, father of several generations of cats and the big orange striped tom that no one claimed, so I tried to keep them from eating all the food, but there was only so much I could do.   Sister and I started planning her next tra...

It’s Not My Cat February 2023

It’s Not My Cat February 2023   I started to leave my screen door propped open, covertly watching for cats.   Mama came in a few times and looked around, but only when I was clearly not paying attention (or so she thought).   Boo came by to eat with Mama a time or two, but didn’t come in.   Sister was still setting out the live cat traps, and caught a few more, but not wily little Mama.   I had to go out of town for a few days, and had Sister watching my house.   Mama was no where to be found while Sister was around.   She really didn’t want to get trapped!     Sister went out and bought tons of cat food and gave it to me for the fur babies.     Before Crazy Cat Guy (CCG) passed away, he and his two friends were a constant source of irritation to me.   I called them the Three Stooges.   Black Truck Guy was Larry, CCG was Mo, and the short loud black guy was Curly.   Curly was always drunk, shout...

It's Not My Cat January 2023

We start the story of "It's Not My Cat" on a wintery day in January, 2023.  Crazy Cat Guy (CCG) across the street had just passed, leaving numerous (!) feral and semi-feral cats wondering why Daddy isn't feeding us anymore? I got some cat food, and tried to help out.  The cats still had access to the inside of the house, and his sister (Sister) set up automatic feeders and water for them.  Several truckloads of cats captured by Animal Control had already been removed, but there were those that refused to be trapped. Working with Sister, I identified the ones who might want to bond with me for safety and companionship.  Mama and Boo were the ones Sister was most worried about. Mama Boo I decided that I would try to get these two to stay with me, maybe talk them into adopting me. Sister said that both cats would sit in CCG's lap and sleep with him.  They were both spayed females she said, and were very sweet cats. It only took a few days before Mama would co...
